Contrasting with motifs written with complimenting, yet new melody and harmony from the outset, this arrangement seems to begin and end with the primary hymn tune. Alternating in pitch and chord structure levels, the primary hymn tune continues to be recognizable, even when the registration produces added volume and fullness. The softer and more transparent, etherial stops selected for the finale, purposefully maintain the “familiar spirit” of all sections of this work, evidenced in the soft melodic bass line that ends the piece.
