The intimately styled opening phrases from Mendelssohn’s “If With All Your Hearts Ye Truly Seek Me” seem to prematurely provide the answer to the prayer petitions in the main hymn. The 8’ Oboe combined with the light 4’ flute maintain a sense of reverence in the second section. Enhanced by additional 8’ stops from other tonal families, the mid-section, again from Mendelssohn’s work, exudes a stronger depth of supplication. Much fuller organ registration seems to impart a positive solution to all impassioned pleas appearing throughout this arrangement.
